Anna: Sweet!

I was delighted by Anna Sui's spring/summer '09 collection!

Not only did she use beautiful shades of blue and green that I'm LOVING right now, but the silouhettes were so perfectly wearable and vintagey. I have a lot of both kicky, full, sorta 50s skirts and dresses, as well as straight 60s ones, and I think I'll be using my favorite looks from her collection for inspiration throughout the coming year.

I also love how she (as well as Marc) used beautiful scarves as belts. I'm wearing one today to transform a very straight dress into a more curvy shape.

oh Marc, does he ever miss?

Agh! He can do no wrong. I liked his Marc by Marc Jacobs collection even more than the Marc Jacobs line for Spring '09. The men's looks were equally adorable and wearable.

I love the giant military stripes on things. Reminds me of early 90s Helmut Lang.

Brooklyn Flea booty

Today's Brooklyn Flea was my first- I can't believe it's taken me so long to check it out! It has a terrific mix of vendors selling everything from vintage clothes, antique jewelry, local food (mmm, pickles!), artwork, and handcrafted furniture from salvaged bits and pieces. I didn't intend to buy ANYTHING, but now that I've set myself free from the chains for Style without Consumption, I couldn't resist as lovely periwinkle ruffley print blouse by Banana Republic and a NARCISO RODRIGUEZ cream wool high waisted skirt for $15 total! I also picked up a pair of J. Lindberg skinny boy-cut jeans and a purple flowery muumuu (with pockets) for $20 at an unattended booth that was carrying out a social experiment- a few racks of thrifted vintage and a bottle for you to pay what you thought was appropriate, though the suggested price was $18. I also couldn't resist a small jar of spicy relish from McClure's Pickles- yum!

I relished the alone time, knitting in front of the Full Frontal Fashion and knitting.

Sunday was spectacular! The hurricane that passed over us on Friday night and Saturday cooled down temperatures and blow away all the humidity. I went to the Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene, and meandered through my old neighborhood- what a difference a year makes! It feels even more posh there now....

The rest of the weekend is reserved for watching Project Runway and more knitting, with Cind next to me on the couch.
