Luckily, I know of a baby who will need something like this come autumn '09....

Yum! Need to make this...
Baked Spaghetti with Toasted Peppers
This looks like the perfect comfort food for me.
Only I'd add collard or mustard greens to the mix,
and maybe substitute the white bread crumbs with quinoa.

Pattern: Feather and Fan pattern in the round over 10 pattern repeats
Yarn: Araucania Yarns Magallanes in color 312, scored in swap with Mamichan
Needles: Size 10 Denise interchangables
Thoughts: I've had an overwhelming outpouring of support from friends and family in the aftermath of my breakup, and I'm busying myself making thank you knits. There's something very comforting about the simple feather and fan pattern -- the equal parts increasing and decreasing is very meditative. The thick and thin yarn in this beautiful colorway was satisfying to knit with, and after rinsing and blocking, it is super soft. Two friends who I'm making thank you knits for would look stunning in this colorway, and luckily I have another ball, so I might be making another one just like this.

It's snowing
17 degrees, but feels like 4 degrees. Isn't there supposed to be some rule about it not being capable of snowing below a certain temperature?

Perfect timing!
Before moving to New York, I had the cutest lofts/apartments, decorated with great mid-century finds. Now that I'm looking at moving into a place that will be all my own, and I won't have to compromise with anyone on colors, shapes, materials, etc., I'm having a lot of fun imagining what my home will look like. And just in time, Orla Kiely is doing a cute housewares line for Target, full of her great prints!

upholstery
I have this cute little mid-century armchair I drunkenly carried home off the street almost 2 years ago, and it's been sitting patiently in the corner, waiting for me to get my act together. I'm pretty sure there are some dormant bed bugs in it, so I'll need a professional to tear into it and give it fresh stuffing. I was thinking of covering it in one of these two fabrics in keeping with yesterday's bruise color themed interior inspiration post. Both can be acquired at Purl Patchwork or on Purl SoHo's online store.

collective nightmare
April pointed out that it seemed that many people have been having nightmares. I posted about one just the other day. In mine it was nighttime, but there was an unhealthy light everywhere, like in The Blind Girl by John Millais (above). I was trapped in a dark house, trying to keep this light out, but someone was breaking all of the windows from the outside, letting it in.
small dream space
Now that it's just me, I'm wrestling with the idea of downsizing to a smaller space in the building. Not happy with it at all, but this cozy little picture gives me some hope.

up and away continued
Thanks, everyone, for the comments on my post about taking a trip somewhere! Now I've really got the travel bug. Wish I could go more than one place....
This trip could be a great new start for me.

Gimme 2009
My birthday's in another week and a half, and while I probably don't need another bag, Hayden-Harnett's collaboration for Target has yielded a very cute, sensible brown hobo bag and a gorgeous umbrella I could certainly squeeze into my wardrobe. The umbrella, without a doubt, is NEEDED. I love Hayden-Harnett -- have 3 bags from their regular line, and have been looking for a good, big brown bag. This might just do the trick! I wouldn't complain about getting the black double flap bag, either.
